a) Equipment list:
 

  1. Router    (to be used as a baseline)
  2. LAN Cable x1
  3. Smartphone x3
  4. OpenSignal (application installed on all 3 smartphones)
  5. Roll of Aluminium Foil x1
  6. 3 Axis RF Strength Meter x1
  7. Macbook Air x2 (supplied by student)
  8. Macbook Pro x1 (supplied by student)


Control Experiment
  1. Put a WiFi modem in a Aluminium Foil Box
  2. Put the 3 Axis RF Strength Meter measuring device inside the Aluminium Foil Box
  3. Use a phone to measure ping speed without external interference
  4. Measure the ping, download speed, upload speed and 3 Axis RF Strength Meter Emitted


Mapping Signal in SST


  1. Map out different locations in SST
  2. {C1/2/3/4/5/Canteen x2/ Infohub x2/ Field/ Centre of ISH/ Centre of MPH/ Centre of Basketball Court}
  3. Measure the ping, download speed, upload speed and 3 Axis RF Strength Meter Emitted


This is to test the router’s maximum WiFi Speed. The metre is placed as close as possible to make it as accurate as possible.
